|
|
For various reasons, getting a job with a contract/being employed legitimately is a priority for me. It sounds like schools offering contracts are rare, but I was wondering if someone could suggest specific schools (preferably in Istanbul, and preferably universities) which are known to give them. Information on private schools or dersanes would also be welcome.
Otherwise, I'd seen some posts mentioning "language assistant" or "teaching assistant" jobs that require no contract but nonetheless were legal and legitimate. Is this the case? If so, where could these types of jobs be found? |

Contracts are the norm, though not legally binding. Most dersanes will give you residency, but a painful FEW will actually get you a work permit. Pretty much all the universities will though (I say pretty much because I've heard 1 story where a very famous university didn't), and to my knowledge, most of the high schools will too.
Language and teaching assistant jobs? Don't know anything about that. Doesn't sound right, unless the teaching assistantship is outside of EFL.
You're best at a private uni or second, a private high school, if you've got the quals. |

Any names of those few schools that you mentioned which give work permits?
Also, what's EFL? |

Can't say for sure, but I've heard British Side does - they seem to be one of the few language schools here who are truly doing things by the book. But I'm not sure if even THEY give work permits. Can anyone verify that? |
