Recruiter... avoid recruiter jobs for general/international school positions if possible.
If you have the standard credentials for teaching K-12... a national teaching certificate/license and a few years of experience, look at job fairs or directly applying to the schools.
If you have a few years of experience and the proper credentials, you might look into ADEC positions relating to the restructuring of the public schools in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. These positions do use various recruiters such as Teachaway. Few, if any, direct hires.

VS - ADEC hires through Caneducom as well as through Teach Away. I know teachers who've used both recruiting agencies (as stated elsewhere, ADEC doesn't do much if any direct hiring) and who've had positive experiences with both.
Impala - Caneducom seems to be a smaller, but older recruitment agency than Teach Away. In the end, though, the process is pretty much the same: apply, have a phone interview with the agency (screening out the non-humans, I think), then an in-person interview with ADEC representatives. I elected to use Teach Away as my recruiting agency, but I've only heard good things about Caneducom from teachers who went with them. |

Caneducom didn't even interview my friend over the phone! They just sent an email (with a ton of spelling mistakes) telling my friend to come to the interview in Houston. I was put through the ringer with Teach Away, they really grilled me. As much as I would have preferred to not have a phone interview first, at least they aren't just bringing in anyone. Seems like they want to get decent teachers, rather than a cattle call. |
