I am considering signing a two month contract to work at Aston in Hohhot. Has anyone ever worked there? Any information would be kindly appreciated.

A two month contract? Is that correct? I have never heard of one so short?

What is 'the package'?

I am only concerned about the management. I am just going there for fun. The pay is not really important.

Aston has someone leaving early and needs a teacher for two months. They also offer 6 week intensive contracts as well.

Many foreigners who come to China, Korea, Europe, and elsewhere are actually interested in making a living, doing a professional job; in essence, a career. It's people who blatantly admit they are just doing it "for fun" that ruin any and all credibility of foreign language teaching.

Sad.

Just because someone comes to China for two months doesn't mean that they are not interested in doing a professional job. I have been teaching English in Taipei for almost four years and have written two ESL books.

I guess that is why you have an editor when you write a book!

Every branch is individually owned. Reading about other branches is not very useful!

Taiwan is not like China. If you are a good teacher they will work you here. I too doubt they will give you the proper visa. Language mills work mainly on weekends so the police don't hastle them much unless you are in Guangzhou. Taiwan has very strict laws for foreigners. I worked there for two years. To visit you only get 10 days. But once you are in you can work anywhere and noone will ask you for your passport. China is getting the same only now you get only thirty days. Be careful about what people say to you. You will come here on your dime. Not like in Taiwan where they pay you up front and provide airline tickets.
Have fun!

Well, JZer; till a few years ago the Wisner family in Dalian that were the founders of this monstrosity (known now as Aston) had some control or oversight in all their franchises around China.

That might no longer be the case though.......
