I don't know about name recognition, but I do know that paying Ivy League money and winding up with an M.A. TESOL degree is crazy. I'd keep applying to more places and then go to wherever they'll give you an assistantship and a tuition waver.

Dear aspiringesl,

Ir all depends on how MUCH more expensive NYU is, and, perhaps more importantly, how much a degree from NYU means to YOU (because it won't mean much, if anything, to anyone else in ESL/EFL.)

Regards,
John

^^^^^ What he said!!!!

Once you leave the lower 48 the university name on the parchment is virtually meaningless.

The important name is YOURS on the parchment.

I agree with the general drift of the responses - there's no point in paying big bucks for a TEFL-related degree. The vast majority of EFL employers are simply interested in the fact that you have a degree.
