I turned them down. I'm taking a risk here by not accepting it, but I'm counting on getting something better, maybe in China or Japan. Thanks for all the replies; ultimately I just wasn't excited about the position. My g/f (soon wife) really didn't want to move there either, and also the housing package they were offering wasn't great (shared housing, or 15 mil per year stipend)

Sounds like a wise move. You would have been digging in to your pockets to supplement the housing allowance. China could be a good option financially. Lots of frightened unseasoned teachers departing international schools in Japan at the moment. Could also be a prime opportunity?

I think that you made the right move in turning the job down. I knew someone who worked there and got screwed over by the admin.

I also read your post on the ISR forum. In all honesty I think you may be running out of time to find and international job at a good school as most of them have done their hiring for next year.

Interesting you note that you have IB certification, what do you mean by this? The IB don't actually certify individuals. You are right in that IB schools will always look for IB experienced teachers.

Good luck with your search. One company you could check out who still have a few jobs around are http://www.triaust.com/ . They are quite cheap to register with and even though they are based in Australia, they take on teachers of all nationalities

Good luck

By "IB Certified" I mean that I have a certificate from ibo.org (the organization that holds the IB workshops). I paid for an 8-week course on the A1 DP English Course last year. At the end I got certificate saying as much.

I don't think it's too late. I have a few schools who I'm talking to; one in Japan, a few in the mid-east, a few in China. I basically just went on the IB website and looked at each school's website and emailed the ones who had job openings. Not all schools register with SEARCH or ISS.
