Indonesia has recently put in place restrictions for those who wish to teach here from other countries. An English teacher must now have a minimum Bachelors degree in a relevant field to teaching English.
My question is how strict will this be enforced? I have seen other 'so called" strict laws here being bent or broken in the recent past (example, an English teacher working here on a KITAS who is from South Africa, which is not one of the recognised countries for English teachers [canada, America, UK, Australia, New Zealand]).
I was also told that the ministry of education has to approve your educational background, which results in a letter that is submitted to Immigration, along with the KITAs application.
Will this law be enforced strictly, or will it be flax like other laws? What do you think? |
