Considering how a racist now controls America, the topic is spot on the money. But self-criticism aside, you have to realize that the Chinese government has representatives right inside in your very classroom. It is illegal to criticize the Chinese government, so don't be surprised if teaching materials paint the rest of the world in a negative way.

Where you can make a slight difference is in the prompts you use for writing tasks. But you can't preach to them. Most of them are more concerned with getting high marks on the CET-6 than actually thinking about the content anyway.
