I would like to know what prompts your decision to leave Korea, if that is not off topic.?
What about applying directly to the International schools in Vietnam by email?
If you do get a CELTA dont get the one at the largest school. Go to the other place in town, the lesser known one. if possible stay in Korea and get it there. Does Sogang U still have a teacher training program?
You should be able to get work here without it since you have a teaching cert. It just depends on the school.

I will continue to apply online and through direct mailing. I am registered through Search Associates. I could attend a fair in Bangkok in March, but if it is not successful, then I am out 3 grand possibly. That's not a risk I want to take. I suppose that if I can't land something through the web, then I will do the CELTA and teach English in Vietnam for a year, and hit up the major fair a year from now.

This is the right approach for you, I'm sure. Check out both Dave's job ads and the New Hanoian for positions with the international schools. The VN government requirement is met (and more than met) by your qualifications and experience. And if I were a hiring principal, I'd be impressed by the level of your written English (unfortunately not to be taken for granted on these posts).

CELTA is expensive and adds only a little to an experienced teacher's knowledge, but you can do it in Vietnam if you decide it's worth it.

Laughing Good luck, hope you enjoy your time here.
