Can anyone provide the names of reputable schools in Jinan? I have a master's and am CELTA certified. I will be travelling to Jinan soon with a friend who will stay with her family and I will be looking for work. I would like to research the schools prior to my arrival.

despite what some on this forum think it's a fair question. most schools in china dont advertise and when they do it isnt always easy to find them. hopefully someone on here will help put you in the right direction but i'm not betting on it. some on here (as we see above) seem to be overprotective of "their turf" and loathe to help out. but let's see what happens. |

I hope this isn't considered offensive Mr Moderator, sir.
Stay away fromm Sunmoon Education in Jinan. They are the largest general training school in China and have their headquarters in Jinan.
They are rotten to the core, and their founder/CEO was recently imprisoned for rape. Even by Sunmoon standards, the Jinan school is particularly evil.
Good luck. Jinan is a nice place. |

How does personal behavior ipso-facto support bad business/employment practice? Would you care to provide evidence that this person committed/and was imprisoned for such an act before some people start to believe you have some grudge against him/them and could possibly mouthing-off/spreading rumor/lies? |

Hey there,
I've been in China for about 2 months now, and I have a few friends who work in different schools around Jinan.
I know a few people who work with Aston, and they seem to be fairly happy. They have a dorm residence for all the FTs and they get to make their own lesson plans. A couple of them have been there for a couple of years now, so it must be good enough to stick around for.
I also have a friend teaching at OE (Optimum English). I don't know a whole lot of details about it, but the teacher there doesn't seem displeased with the position.
Finally, I personally work at Always Education and Exchange Center. I started in Mid-Feb, and honestly love it. We are given very nice private apartments, the pay is decent, and the people I work with are marvelous. You are able to use pre-planned classes or create your own, and the work load is very reasonable. There are a couple of FTs that have been here for almost 3 years now and still very much enjoy working with the school.
I can't comment on any other schools, as I don't personally have any experience or know anyone at them, so best of luck to you for what you do find! |

| LOL! Don't expect a PM TOO soon from "bythebookie" as that user name was banned long ago. Granted, the person behind that name has been back many-a-time under a new one and is probably here today (but not yet sure of his newest yet). So you may well get a PM from . . . someone . . . !!!! |
