Hello Everyone

Looking for some advice.

Recently completed a year in Mainland China, working as an ESL teacher in a language school. Really enjoyed the experience and want to further my teaching career.

I already have a first degree, (although not in English or Eduation) and currently hold a Cambridge CELTA.

Would really like to do my PGDE in HK. I have read some expats doing this course (part time) and seem reasonably happy. They also managed to get onto the NET scheme.

I don't have any desire whatsoever in teaching in the UK. So, if I decided to do this course it would purely be for the qualification.

Would my chances be greater if I gained this qualification in the UK (with QTS) but no post-grad experience. OR do the PGDE in HK whilst working and hopefully doing some volunteer work in a school to maximise my experience potential over 2 years?

The thought of doing this course and not getting onto the NET scheme is abit scary.

Many thanks in advance

I'm ignorant of British PGDEs, but just want to reassure you that there are lots of good jobs available in Hong Kong outside of the NET scheme: there are local schools which do their own hiring of English teachers outside of the government scheme, or if you prefer you could look for a position as a subject or classroom teacher in one of the many schools which uses English as the general medium of instruction.
