A classmate of mine who is here in the States applying for jobs in Taiwan was told the reason he can't find a job is because cram schools have been advised not hire any new foreigners due to large amount already in the country. Has anyone else heard about this, or is someone just spreading rumors? |

That makes no sense. There is no government entity that would do anything like that. |

Yup, hence it would be nice to know "who" told his or her friend such a story. |

I came here in the beginning of February and found a job in Taipei the next day! That was 2 1/2 months ago. |

haha interesting. I thought it would be a bizarre thing for the government to say. He was told by another TESOL classmate who graduated and found a job in Taiwan about a year ago. I think his problem is that he is trying to apply from outside of Taiwan. Taiwan seems like the kind of place where they would want to see you in person to know if you fit the cookie cutter idea of what a western should look like. I think he is going to take a position in korea instead. It is so strange there are maybe 50-75 students getting their BA and MA in TESOL at my school, but I am the only one who does any research on what to do with my degree after I graduate. |
