All things being equal (as described below), A.) Is it easier to obtain a work permit in HN or in HCMC? B.) Is it easier to find good paying, full-time ESOL jobs in HN or HCMC? I have: 1. BA degree (USA) 2. CELTA certificate 3. Two-years teaching experience (ESOL - Vietnamese immigrants in Tampa, FL). 4. I am a native English speaker (born in Buffalo, NY). Rolling Eyes

Saigon has a bit more of a "money-talks" climate, and this extends to visas and other red-tape. An example of this is a number of people I have helped who have been told, over and over, by Hanoi authorities or schools, that they cannot get a visa, that they must leave the country to renew the visa, that they must return to Hanoi any time they need a new visa (e.g. if you move to Saigon)... and it has often been BS. With some money and a phone call I've helped people in all these situations get visas. So I'd go with Saigon.

Hello toiyeuthitmeo:

Tks so much! That's good information. I'll be in Saigon, starting June 16th.
Is there any way that I can contact you once I'm in VN for some guidance on visas? My e-mail is: [email protected]

Regards,

Andy

Sure, you can contact me on this thread or by sending a PM through the site. If you have any questions about your initial visa for your first time in country, I can give you some pointers for an easy visa-on-arrival. Cheers.
