Live in HCMC fly tonight to Hanoi- Can't find my stupid residency card. No visa in Passport, because I have a residency card. Do I need it for in country travel??

Yes, they do check for visa for domestic flights. Hope you can find the card!

Actually they don't. I am living proof as I just did it this weekend. Both Jetstar and Vietnam airlines DO NOT check visa documents (only passport photo) for domestic flights. Good info for anyone else that wants to do this and is in a panic!

Nice. I did Saigon-Danang-Hanoi-Saigon a few months ago with my residency card, and my guests were on passports, which were thoroughly checked incld visa several times. Suppose anecdote is anecdote, but perhaps you just got lucky? Or did someone tell you it was policy?

Anyways, glad you made your trip!

I emailed Jetstar in a panic, and they said it's their own policy that they don't check visas for domestic flights. So it's policy for right now. But things change bloody quickly here so in a couple months it could be different. Good to know though!

BTW did you find your Resd card? Luckily I've got mine safe, but I am known to lose things. If you have lost it and go through the process of getting a replacement, let us know. That could be very useful info.
