I hope he's OK - Mr. Jones has been one of the most knowledgeable posters on this forum (and others) both as regards info about Saudi/the Middle East and grammar. |

Just heard from one of his ex-colleagues that he died in Sri Lanka having finally succumbed to the big C. |

An honest veteran who'd been through the wars and brightened up Dave's World.
Rest in peace. |

I'm really sorry to hear about this.
Thanks, guys, for letting us know - without such a thread, I'd have just wondered mildly what happened to Mr. Jones and never got a chance to mourn for a moment and to send him all good wishes, wherever in the atmosphere he may be. |

Those of us who were aware of his illness assumed that this had been the outcome, but thanks for confirming it, Arab Strap. For many years he was a valuable source of information on Saudi Arabia, and he will be missed in this part of Dave's.
RIP Mr Jones...

Very sad news indeed. He was a valuable source of information for all of us, a trusted and believeable poster with one of the most balanced viewpoints on the board. He was especially knowledgeable about Saudi work laws and visa issues. We all benefitted greatly from his advice. I for one am glad that he passed away in beautiful Sri Lanka rather than in the depressing environs of a Saudi hospital. I hope he has gone on to that big job fair in the sky, where all the positions pay generously for teaching nine hours a week in a tropical paradise. Goodbye, Stephen. You will be missed. |

Well, with all due respect to everyone, I hope whatever's "in the sky" doesn't include job fairs and ESL/EFL. I would hope, for myself, it might feature a second chance at all the romantic opportunities lost while I was floundering on earth. |

Dear Sheik,
"I would hope, for myself, it might feature a second chance at all the romantic opportunities lost while I was floundering on earth."
But - would eternity be long enough?
Regards,
John |

Well I had so many admirers I wish I'd married that I'll need eternity. |

Dear Sheik,
Perhaps you, Don Juan, and Casanova can swap stories in the Sweet Hereafter.
