|
|
Hi there,
Having been in Brunei for a few months, we are finding our children growing out of the clothes we managed to pack or ship over.
Are there any decent mail order companies that deliver to Brunei? I've checked out Next, Grattan, Debenhams....so far without success.
If anyone can recommend any sites I'd be grateful! |

Hi,
Don't know any I'm afraid. But loads of children's clothes on sale in Brunei surely? Isn't a mail order firm rather costly? I have always found a great choice of kids' clothes in the local shops.

Childrens clothes - especially childrens shoes - are few and far between. What there is is overpriced, and often poor quality.
I love the country and being here, but it's shops just don't cut the mustard I'm afraid! |

Go down to Miri. Parkson in the Bintang Mall has a wide range. |

Hi progrocker,
I fully respect your opinion, of course!
However, there are loads of shops which sell children's clothes and the need for a mail order firm has never crossed my mind!
Good luck in your search though.

Hi again,
Just heard about a mail order company called Asos (www.asos.com) in the context of adult clothes and shoes of all sizes - maybe they do chldren's clothes too..
I am told they have a free worldwide delivery offer on at the moment and delivery to Brunei takes about 3 weeks.
Happy shopping!

Thanks Jsteventon
Yes we used asos in the UK all the time, and have since been using them here in Brunei with no problems - 2 weeks is the record so far, not bad for free delivery!. Excellent value for adults - stuff you wouldn't be able to get here. They are a great company to order from.
They do kids stuff aswell, but unlike the adult clothes, they are really expensive.
Until we find a decent supplier of childrens clothes, we have settled to ordering from the likes of Next/Debenhams etc to a UK address, and then just get them sent over by family. Bit of a faff, but will do for now! I'll post up here if I find any online supplier that delivers to Brunei in the meantime. |

have you checked out either of these? They seem the same as I used to get in other countries. Prices reflect the same sort of costs as elsewhere. If you really can't find things you like here, I think M & S will ship to Brunei as well.
I am with jsteventon though, it's worth persisting and hunting through places like hua ho (esp Bunut/ Manggis and Yayasan) because the pain in the butt factor of ordering, waiting, not being quite like the catalogue is too hard for me!
However, if you really want UK type clothes for them plus the chance to try things on and see before you buy I would be heading to hong kong, KL or singapore in the holidays and doing a shopping run. (H&M, M&S, Next ? -Singapore, I think, Giordano, ok not UK but decent for basics, Esprit, Zara etc....)
Hopefully aunties and uncles or nans and pops will also be feeling generous and buy up big in the early summer sales for you and just send bulk lots!! |

Thanks Bella.
We live not far from the manggis hua ho....know it back to front! Not sure if the Yayasan one offers more range, as we have only been there once.
We've been to mothercare in both Qlap and Manggis....limited and overpriced - plus it wouldn't suit our eldest who needs 10-12 size (age)....that difficult age! I don't know what people with teenagers do!
As for family back home....we are lucky enough to have one relative who works in the best shop for quality clothes at bargain prices: a UK charity shop!
Still hunting online - we are used to shopping online for clothes anyway. Just a note about Asos mentioned earlier - free delivery all the way to Brunei with one catch - you pay for returns if you don't like or it doesn't fit. After a while you get to be a good judge of what you order though.
Forgot about M&S...the great Polish store all the way from Leeds! |

If you are shopping at The Mall or Hua Ho, you will be paying a lot, but for kids there are lots of great, cheap places to shop.
Makro Jaya, Pertama are both reasonable, even for adults - of they have something that fits, that is...
If you don't want to travel all the way down to Miri, popping across the border to the sleepy little town of Limbang can be productive... the prices for clothes, tools, electrical, is close to that in Miri, without having to hassle with the interminable border crossing, but the selection is nowhere near as wide as Miri.
I have ordered shoes from M&S (big fat, UK feet ), the shipping costs were surprisingly reasonable! |
