Hello...My daughter is heading to Taiwan to look for a job teaching English. She has some interviews already lined up and has been working with a recruiting agency, but she will look for jobs on her own as well. She is already planning to visit both Taipei and Kaohsiung. I am posting here to ask for any advice on what her best job searching strategies should be once she gets there. I haven't seen any posts relating to what a certified English teacher (with 3 years of experience teaching at middle school level) can expect to find or where.

I'm helping her out with the research because she is still working. She leaves June 7.

Your advice is appreciated!

$2000 a month to teach 50 students. Good luck to your daughter.

Thanks for your reply. She has 150 students now and, although she is making more than $2000 a month, her cost of living here is much higher too.

What kind of a school will pay that kind of money and what are her best strategies for finding one? Can she find something besides a language school or cram school? Her experience is with middle school aged kids.

Again, thank you in advance for your help.

If you want the best standard of life I would consider moving to the United Arab Emirates. I believe they pay $3300US-$5000US a month plus housing to work in the public school system. They advertise on this website.

Two months paid vacation every summer to travel around Europe or fly home.

When JZer said 50 students, he meant that is how many are in a single class.
