I guess neither of you get excited by the Pyramids, the Pantheon or the Parthenon then ..
Still, at least you and your gang can sit there with your lead helmets on protecting yourselves from the evil magnito and his mind control ... |

| Aristede said it much better than I did. Good job Aristede, they are certainly disgusting slugs. Imperialist warmongers and inbred psychotics. I guess some people get off on that. To each their own. |

| p.s. not sure if a lead helmet would protect anybody from the evil those "Windsor"/Rothschild globalists are perpetrating upon humanity for the past 250 years. Guess colonizing/enslaving tens of millions of the world's population to honor the queen is an "historic" reality show worth ogling over. Hear, hear, let's all bow down to the Police State. |

| Hey, what's this 'neither of you' stuff? I'm in the anti-royalist camp too. |

I think this sums up the occasion quite nicely:

Sorry, you'll have to copy and paste, perhaps not advisable for the staunch monarchists in our midst.
OK, Kate might be common, but puh-leeeease... |

If that's supposed to pass for a rebuttal, you'll have to do better.
Two filthy-rich children of privilege marry while the world applauds = the Egyptian pyramids?
You're not even comparing apples and oranges here...more like apples and artichokes. |

You agreed with gloomychops wholeheratedly on this one. It was about history.
Can't you remember what you so fervently believed 12 hours ago? That lead helmet of yours should come with a health warning. |

His "neither of you" is a typical attempt to minimize the number of his opposition. I too noticed that.
Anyway Sasha good to see you too among the anti-royalists--all the stallions and pageantry and frills and trumpets cannot cover up the blood of tens of millions of colonized/enslaved/robbed subjects of the queen. |

Your omniscience fails you again.
My 'neither of you' was based on the fact that only one person had thus far agreed with you wholeheartedly on the particular point that I was contesting.
Unlike you and your gang of mind-control-avoiders, I don't presume to know people's opinions until they state them. |

| I have a question for the ant-royals. Bearing in mind you are repulsed by the idea of the monarchy and you reject their war-mongering in the past, does it also follow that you want nothing to do with the benefits that come from a strong historical heritage? Namely a british passport! Do the decent thing, if you have no time for the royal family then really you have no time for the country, do the honourable thing (if you know what that is) give back the passport and find a republic to spend the rest of your days in! |

| See some people have been and will always be "subjects". The tragedy is, however, they kinda like being so. Anything they are and/or have is "bestowed upon". The royal-wedding-frenzy is the reflection of a greater problem. See stockholm syndrome for details. |

As an American, that one doesn't apply to me. British citizens have been indoctrinated over generations to adore the royals, so your thinking along these lines is understandable if not logical. Tracy Ullman once said that in Britain, "we pay people to be better than us."
What I find more dismaying is my fellow Americans going along for the ride when our founders shed much blood casting off the reins of royalty.
Perhaps it shows is that many people have such dreary inner lives and so little self-regard that they need to live vicariously through more "important" figures. This is hardly limited to royals. I am as repulsed by fascination with the Kennedys, Michael Jackson, or Paris Hilton.
Others may agree or disagree, but at least I get to keep my passport, thank you. |

| Well, I was cringeing enough on Friday, but my toes are curling even more after reading most of the comments above. As a teacher in Turkey from UK, I am always extremely embarrassed when my students ask about royalty, but even more so when they ask about the House of Lords. For heavens sake, this is the 21st century, not some pseudo-mediaeval pageant. |

Tracy Ullman has been quoted :
| Quote: |
| we pay people to be better than us |
She is a satirical comedian. She also said " America is the good, the bad and the absolutely ridiculous" and also the US is " now able to laugh at itself more".
Unless you are British, you cannot understand the history or pageantry behind any royal wedding. We don't expect you to. |
