I read in a few posts on this forum about teachers making extra money by tutoring private students and doing voice overs and editing work. What is the going rate/hour for tutoring your private students? How did you get into voice over work and editing/translating, and how much do you earn doing those jobs? Thanks!

People charge from 50 to 100 tl for private lessons (I charge 60 tl)
Editing and proofing? Well, I have no idea what that should be but I recently got 30 tl an hour for a massive and truly awful editing job (translated from Turkish into inconsistent "Turklish")
However, I think editing and proofing are generally paid either by the page or word count.
Anybody got any idea how much we should charge for these?
I have no idea about voiceovers, sorry

Thank you Delal, I was beginning to wonder if I would get a response to this post. I think it was coffeespoonman that first mentioned voice overs and editing/translating.

I've never done voiceover, but I have a friend who makes a stupid amount of money doing it. Don't know the details though.

I do a lot of editing and translation (actually, my Turkish partner does the translation, and I clean it up). I charge 50 USD an hour for editing/proofreading. The translation varies - I can give more details by pm if they're relevant to anyone. I got into the editing/translation business by responding to an ad online several years back. From there, I just started advertising and doing it independently.

I generally charge 60-100 TL for privates, depending on whether they travel to me and whether I actually want them or not.
