One thing I was wondering, is Interac as a company doing well?
They closed one of their Tokyo offices late last year/early this year. |

| I'm sure its the same thing thats affecting the rest of Japan. Japan's economy hasn't been doing well since the market crash. It has hit a lot of different markets/industries, so I think its only expected that some companies would close down some offices and resize/restructure their organization. |

@Kenishi86: true, or atleast people who have went abroad. Only one person I knew in my seminar mentioned they studied abroad in Japan. Someone else went to China, and..this other guy was heavily invloved in the Japanese club at his university, and two JET rejects(myself included XD).
Long story short, they don't want people who will run away if they are dealt with culture shock it seems. |

Any word back from people who applied for the fall intake?
Seems that some people have gotten emails that their paperwork has been sent to the head office in Tokyo this week.
I got nothing , so a lesson to all you future candidates (DUN MESS UP ON THE DEMO!And don't be late hahaXD) |

Ya I got my email that the paperwork had been sent off a day or so ago. It could be dependent on the recruiter getting stuff in. If you brought some of the outstanding docs with you to the interview then that could be the hold up. I sent all of mine to Utah before the interview so really they only needed what was left over from the seminar.
But ya, you were late?!?! That could probably cost you it. Japan being the punctual people they are....sore sign. I wouldn't fret too much on the demo mess up.
I sort of wish they hadn't sent the email out, cause I was fine just twiddling my thumbs wondering. However, now I KNOW the stuff is at Tokyo and being looked over. Sigh.
EDIT: Oh. Also forgot to take on that my friend that went to a 30th seminar said they actually asked about people coming in June. Apparently the deal comes with settling in money too, which is pretty spiffy. He didn't give me the details but it may be a similar offering to what I was seeing around for a short job with Interac. The pay was substandard. |

I got an email on Tuesday saying my info was sent to Tokyo and got the official offer of employment when I woke up this morning. ^^
I know of one other person who also got their offer this morning so the emails are starting to go!
Can't wait for August! |

I was late because I thought I lost my transcript &passport photos when I was about to leave(I forgot I put those two documents away in my folder the previous night. Ironic how I made sure I wouldn't be running around the following morning looking for stuff huh? heh... )So I was scrambling around looking for it before I left. *shrugs* I already accepted a job offer anyways with PKC, but went to Interac to see if they had a better offerand I was sorta bored..I currently have uneventful life, but this was a good learning experience..group interviews and all
Either way, I just got my rejection email XD
So thats somewhat of a relief to save me from the awkward decline speech if by some some cosmic disturbance I got in.
But I'm sure you guys will get into Interac!!
So just hang in there!!! |

| I got through all of the steps at Interac with positive results on this side of the pond, with the packet now on its way to Japan. I was told, however, that my age, being in the mid-50s makes it an uphill battle with ALT slots, primarily because of JTE hesitation to tell an older person what to do, which is somewhat against societal norms. Hopefully, though, something somewhere will open up soon. |

@Denizen
There are a number of older Interac ALTs in my prefecture. A couple of whom are in their 2nd+ year. So there are obviously schools that not only are accepting older ALTs, but are also seeming to get along with them enough that they want them to continue the following year.
Something will be found for you, I'm sure. |

Seklarwia,
Thanks for your positive remarks.
I've offered to go into the Sendai area (which all of me is happy to do except for my thyroid), in order to increase my chances. I was with Interac many years ago. I hope that has some pull as well. |

| I just got my "Offer of Employment" email from Interac. So many people can expect theirs soon as well. |

I too have received an offer of employment for the fall openings.
However, now I'm a little worried. Mostly because I cannot look over the contract before agreeing to work. That just feels like setting myself up for potential problems. |

I wouldn't worry too much about it because you are agreeing to the very least that they could give you. |
