Hello guys,
I would like to learn some Turkish. Recently I found this school called 'Turkuaz'. I cannot find much info about it, so maybe someone from here knows more? Can anyone share experience with me where is the best place to learn Turkish?

Dil dile değmeden dil ğrenilmez canım.
Actually, I've heard a lot of good things about Tmer. That's where most of my friends have gone. |

Eww. I heard that sleazy line on more than a few occasions. Usually from middle-aged Turkish men wanting me to introduce them to yabanci girls.
Get a self-study book, watch English movies with Turkish subtitles (you get some excellent slang as well as lots of practical phrases), practice in shops/taxis/restaurants and get yourself a Turkish lover! |

I've used a number of different books to learn Turkish (never took classes), and I found the best was Yabancı Dilim Trke. I think it's published by Dilmer, but I can't remember. The only thing about that series is that they books don't really have grammatical explanations as they're meant for a class. They only have lots of exercises, so you need to find someone to ask questions to. |

I like watching Turkish movies with English subtitles (like 'Recep Ivedik')
I've heard about Tomer and Dilmer... will email them.
I've got one 'Turkce ogreniyorum' CD, but I am bored already.
I can't practice my language skills yet as I am still in UK. Well.. I could try at my local 'fish and chips' shop though.
Thank you for sharing |

No need for boredom when you have Recep İvedik to emulate! |

Sinitta,
If you are in London, there are evening classes in Turkish offered at both SOAS and UCL, and maybe other universities.
Try contacting your local university or FE College. |
