That got me a bit worried! It was showing that on my record, but above it still said the matter was unresolved - so I went with heavy heart wondering what I'd done wrong. Nothing to worry about. I don't know if unreliable technology is the problem. It's more a matter of opaque bureaucratic language. When I checked the website to see if my visa was ready, at the top of the page it said Resoluci�n: Sin Resoluci�n, and I thought it wasn't ready yet. Maybe to INM Sin Resoluci�n means that the applicant hasn't returned to sign the last pieces of paper and give fingerprints, so the card can be issued. Just an idea . . . |
Could be. It's just that in the old days, you could check on the computers they have in INM and it would say Resuelto even before going to collect your document. Hence my confusion. |

| I agree the new terminology is confusing. I wonder why bureaucratic language is usually so unclear to non-bureaucrats - maybe it's a power thing. |

There must be some people here coming up to their first renewal of the card as it started in April 2010. Watch this space...

I'll be going next week to renew my card--I'll keep you all posted. |
Forgot about this until the other thread reminded me--yes, new card each year (or at least for now!) So new pictures and you turn in your card at renew and have a constancia to show incase you are picked up in some sort of raid while it is in process!  |

It's as I suspected - every year we'll have to get a new card. I wonder who has the contract for supplying the INM with plastic and the little machines used to laminate the cards. |

| I wouldn't be surprised if they move to something that looks like a US or Canadian driver's license soon, with digital cameras at the migra office. SAT is already using digital photos in a similar capacity. |

Yeah, the Oaxaca Transit Police have been using that technology for six years now, you'd think INM could get with the program.
My card held up well, probably because when I got it a year ago I slid it into the plastic ID pocket of my wallet and didn't take it out until I went to renew it. |
