Which side, the Korean side or the international side?
I have a friend working there so if you are more specific I can ask questions directly. He has been there a few years and it seems ok. They did however fire almost all their teachers a few years back in a mass cull! |

I also have a 'friend' working there.....
What do you want to know?
Principal has handed in his notice on the English side so anything that might deter you because of rumours about him will soon be negated.
The school, by way of ratings, is apparently at the bottom of the food chain regarding international schools, along with Delia and the American International school. Many students go there as a stop-gap before being accepted into other schools.
The staff are all really nice people and apparently get on well together and a number socialise together too. This counts for a lot in my book.
Students are all relatively nice apparently and there is a good rapport between staff and students. The school is relatively small.
All in all, apparently, not a bad place to be by all accounts.
Korean section? Don't go there.....or so I have been told. |

The international side I suppose - didn't realise it was divided that way. My wife is considering applying. At the mo she's at the top of the NET payscale, so one consideration is how much of a drop in income she might face - hopefully not too much.
To compensate for loss of income, the hols there look good, and she'd be hoping to find a more liberal teaching environment, reasonable workload, good staff relations, etc. Feedback on any of the above, etc., would be great. |

Holidays = good.
IGCSE I think and I also heard they are doing A levels rather than IB.
Good staff - have met several and all are nice.
New principal - still not found.
Pay - don't know how NET relates to international so no idea on that one. |

Tks Joshua. That all sounds good, except the unknowns re the incoming principal - could be good news or bad.
The pay issue might be what decides it, assuming she gets offered a job, that is. |

Like other schools I think the pay is linked to a general point scale but I also think that if your missus is at the top of the NET payscale, she will find it hard to find any job that will pay her anything close to what she is on, especially smaller international schools like KIS.
The principal has resigned before......so there is a possibility he may not go. |

Does anyone have an idea what the salary is likely to be for a teacher at the top end of the scale at this school? |

They don't employ people at the top end of any scale....that's been one of the problems resulting in a high staff turnover through the years.... |

If you're right about that there's no chance they'll employ my wife then ... |

She's already applied and they gave the impression she'd be hearing from them again soon. But finances haven't come into it yet - which is silly. In the UK (for example) you'd know from the start roughly what the salary would be - that way nobody's time is wasted. |
