| I think the predicament that James aka 'sheiker' finds himself in is his own doing. It is all well and good to talk about the Geneva convention and human rights but where does that get you - in a mental institution. I think it has a lot to do with moving on with ones life - sure at a financial loss but at least one keeps ones sanity and dignity. |

Well, what I'm curious about is, whether he wants to be released and put on a plane, or released to continue his battle over the labor court ruling.
I presume the former, and that he has learned his lesson. If so, he should be very glad to be out of there and on his way home.
If, on the other hand, he tries to object to leaving and is hell-bent on pursuing his labor case (on what I would see as pretty weak legal grounds), then he would certainly lose a lot of sympathy.
It is indeed of his own doing, and I doubt very much if he was just picked up quietly and asked to "Come along, sir, we think the psychiatric unit is the place for you at this time". I strongly suspect that he had first made a scene, and it has been mentioned that this is not the first time he's been taken to the psych hospital. Having said that, incarceration isn't nice, and one hopes that he will get out soon only a slightly older but much wiser man.
I am curious about something. Why didn't he take a lawyer and translator with him the very first time he was due in court? That's what normal people anywhere do. Court-appointed translators and lawyers are only a right in criminal cases. His case was not criminal, but a civil labor appeal. |

SHEIKHER UPDATE:
He is still in the Al Hassa Psychiatric institution.
The tel number for the Psychiatric Hospital in Hofuf is +96635751111 then ext 311 and you can ask to talk to Mr. James. I think he would appreciate calls.
Hopefully some people in the KSA could call to cheer him up...let him know he's not alone. I'm still trying to get Canadian authorities to act more strongly about his case.
Prince Bader in Hofuf is the person who is having Sheikher held there for no reason and against the UN Charter of Rights and Freedoms...and is one of the persons who could quickly authorize his release.
Thank you.

The timing was suggestive of that, but I doubt that we will ever know the answer for sure.

| I think if this guy is still there and has been there for the past 2 months then he really must have some kind of mental illness. Why would they want him in Saudi, especially in a hospital which is costing them money? I hope he gets out quickly, and I hope he really doesn't have any mental illness. |

SHEIKHER has been illegally incarcerated for more than 4 months now. From what I know, doctors at the psychiatric institution would release him. It's Prince Bader, a close friend of the Saadouns, who is blocking his release.
While we hope for his case to be resolved quickly, I would hope that fellow posters would not speculate on SHEIKHER'S mental state....which I doubt they are qualified to do.
Messages requesting the Canadian government to take quick action can still be sent to [email protected]
Thank you |

| I have just learned through a contact in Saudi Arabia that SHEIKHER may be released as soon as Saturday or Sunday, May 21/22. He will try to resolve his conflict and hope to get a fair settlement. |

Dear RUBALKHALI,
That's certainly very good news - if it transpires. Maybe, when sheikher exits the Kingdom, we can hear from him about his ordeal.
Regards,
John |

What a shame to let him out precisely on the day the world is supposed to end! But then again, we don't know his religious views. He might just be raptured right out of there. |

SHEIKHER has become a prisoner of the SAUD family....according to a message that I recently received.
| Quote: |
| Sheikher is still in the hospital because the police said it is the local prince Bader who ordered him to the hospital and only the prince that can get him out and the prince says will we have forwarded his case to Eastern Province Prince Mohammed and throw them only can he be released. |
Please pressure the Canadian gov. for his release. Thank you. |
