I guess there are a few summer jobs available. I am off for 2 months soon. Are they OK or not worth it?

This is like asking, "Teaching in China, is it worth it?"

There are a plethura of summer jobs. A few are great, some are good, some are ok, and many suck. I would say there are more bad jobs run by greedy, moneygrubbing *%&^'s than good ones, for sure.

The upside is that if you find a good summer job you can experience a different part of China and make some nice coin while doing it. The downside is you could get used and abused.

So, if you're thinking about summer jobs, fine tune your BS detector and avoid anything that seems in the least bit sketchy or questionable. The good thing is if you are already a teacher in China, the summer job probably isn't sponsoring your visa/work permit and you can walk away at any time that they don't live up to the terms they promised you. NEVER give up your passport to the director of a summer job!

'Avoid exfoliation before doing a summer gig. The kiddies like to pull on your hairs for hours.

This is not a reasonable question. The real question is, "Is it worth it to YOU?" A billion factors involved and only you know what is an acceptable way of life for you. I have lived in China 8 years, now married, and more. So, I "live in China" and not some lame traveler. My life is what it is and summer work is not live or die for me unless I have some desperate need for money, which isn't really an issue.

And you ?

WOW .... you live your life and take jobs based on "promises" ?

For those that decide to take these "summer jobs" that are quite likely in violation of their contract and thus law, deserve to be cheated. You take advantage of the law and violate your contract, you have no expectation of being treated fairly by secondary "employers" ... Follow the law and contractual obligations by getting written permission for such secondary work, have an actual signed contract from the "summer gig" and you have legal protection for what you all seem are unscrupulous employers.
