Ooh, Scotty--in 1972 I was a Navy sailor, which in itself sucks, but my ship was home-ported in Naples--the one in Italy, not Florida (though the latter is not so terrible either). We'd rent a nice car at $20 for a three-day weekend and go up and down the Amalfi Drive, often stopping in Positano (who could resist--who could ever leave?). Or we'd take the boat to...Ischia, Capri....naturally the grass is greener elsewhere, and I always wished I'd been teaching English in Tabuk, but life is never fair, is it.  |
