| I don't know. The dingbats I work for should be footing the bill for this. Last time I went (doing everything myself) cost me maybe a thousand USD, including flights, hotel, visa stuff, and sightseeing. That was two or three days in 2009. Hong Kong is a great city, and the weather was perfect. This time around I think it will be more of a steam bath. |

I broke a contract early (in 2004). Forfeited the airfare refund of course but did find my new school (which I had lined up prior to telling the existing employer anything) was my best ally in getting the release.
Admittedly, the new employer was a nationally recognised uni and the old employer was a provincial level vocational college. |

OP can you give us a hint as to the type of school?
From your quals you should be teaching at an international school - but the contract terms (and the administration behaviour) seem more related to your average uni job.
ie Max 20 hours with overtime after that. |

| Your school will give you a Release Letter. It may state that you were unsatisfactory in your fufillment of your job requirements, but they have to give it to you. But, they don't have to give it to you until your contract is fully completed...as in...the day after your contract expires. They can drag their feet and then you will need to complain to SAFEA, but that would make the school look bad. So, just wait, you should get your letter when your contract is completed. |

easy enough to say he'll get it when his contract expires, but he needs
it now to apply for any job out there |

it wasn't my big boss.. it was his assistant, we didn't argue as such we just had a disagreement and I refused to cover another class (that was not mine), I am already working overtime.
Secondly, I have a teaching degree and CELTA and MA, I would not settle nor accept the terms and conditions back home, why should I settle for less here in China, why should I bow down and be treated like shit...
My school need me prob more than I need them (I am very well qualified and an IELTS examiner which is a lot more than most ESL teachers in China have). |
Really? How valley low can you get can you get? The sun shines somewhere for you....

Stick it to the regulars.
It seems to me that around 7 people post on Dave's all day, everyday.
