Cappadocia is still pretty cheap once you get away from the backpacker and tourist hangouts of Goreme and rgp. However, I negotiated a permanent 7 million/night deal with a pansyon owner there last year. For two years I've been staying at his place, always paying the same rate because he knows I come back. Breakfast included. Places like Avanos and Mustafa Pasa and other little towns nearby are affordable, quite lovely, historic, and close to the eclectic nightlife of rgp and Greme.
As for cheap food, it's pretty easy to eat cheaply here, though prices have risen significantly in the past few years. Some have doubled. However, with a few side salads, colas, and a shared 1.5 portion of main dish, bread, rice, etc, you can easily feed 2 people very well for about 8 million. And that's in a NICE, semi-trendy place, not a hole in the wall lokanta. On the street you can get a dner and ayran for 500-750 000 tl. There are 3 course deals for 2-4 million. |
