the latest from a major school...
The booklet states that Job applicants from America, UK, Holland, China and Taiwan are required to notarize all their Educational Certificates and Police Clearance Report in their home country.
I know for a fact that as a NZer I cannot get my documents notarized in vietnam.
WTF?? |

This has either changed since last year, or it's wrong. I assume that the info came from the consulate itself? |

I'm a kiwi, and I got my work permit last year after getting my docs notarised here in Saigon. Just email them, or wander into the consulate and ask. |

No worries.
I have found that being from New Zealand is an advantage, as we have fewer layers of bureaucracy to worry about, and the consulate staff are more helpful than what I've heard of other countries'. |

As an American I had to have my degree notarized/legalized in my home country. This wasn't too hard though around 500 USD to Apostle Pros in the US, who were very good and fast in getting it done. My police check was here in Ho Chi Minh, as I have been here over 6 months. You just go to the Justice Department, or whatever it is, on Pasture St. My TESOL is through Australia and that was the easiest. Just went to the Australian Consulate here, paid, and the next day it was ready for me. |

How the hell do the Australian consulate notarize or certify a TESL/TESOL/CELTA/TEFL etc etc???
These are private commercial institutions issueing these.
Or kho San road.....
Do they call them up to check that the certificate is legit??? |

I don't know all the hows and the whys to it, but yes my TESOL, which is through a company in Australia, I was able to get legalized at the Australian consulate here in Ho Chi Minh. Just a stamp on the back of it saying something about it being a real TESOL, and that the names of the signatures are real people. I know there is a registration number on my TESOL, to verify that it is real, so maybe they call and check....all I know is I was told that I could go to the Australian consulate and legalize it. Took two days....one day to leave it, and picked it up the next day. The Vietnamese Authentication Dept on Alexander De Rodes, or whatever the spelling, then verified, stickered it, and red stamped it.
It has been shown to a school, and a lawyer here and passed by the lawyer as acceptable for the work permit....in fact she was one of 3 people that told me to go there. I just had it turned in, as a certified copy with translation, for the work permit. Have a Canadian friend who's TESOL is through the same company as mine, he did the same thing to legalize it, and it was accepted and he has his work permit. |
