I'm moving to Palma Mallorca in September. I assume the price of living there is higher than on the mainland. How much should I expect to pay for a 1 bed apartment? Also, is it easy to pick up private students in Mallorca? I have been offered 1300 net to start. Is this enough to live on? Any help or advice appreciated. |

A single furnished flat in Palma is somewhere in the range 500-650 pcm depending on its size. Look on enalquiler.com.
1300 nett is fine to live on. |

In rental comparison with the other Spanish cities I've lived in, it's more expensive than Oviedo or Seville, but cheaper than Madrid or Sabadell. Though then again Madrid has so much availability, if you're prepared to have a long commute. I've never been to San Sebastin, but I've heard people say it's expensive.
Palma is actually really quite small. |

You can find flats in Palma easily for less than 500 Euro (I have one right in the center and it's not even a dump!). The catch is usually you'll have to pay an extra month's rent to an agent + the deposit, so that's a lot of cash upfront. The city is more expensive than the mainland though, so be prepared. You should be fine though with your salary. Welcome to the island! |
