i want to regularly post some fairly large but light items home from Vietnam. what's the story with customs duty, tax, etc.? i'd rather not pay duty. what if i went DHL or UPS instead of the post office?

To what country are you sending? I send items to the U.S. all the time without having to pay tax or customs. I don't declare a value and mark it as a gift, never had a problem. I have always used the post office. It's a lot cheaper and and my items arrive in 10 days.

I myself have NEVER had any issues with V.N.P.T. with stuff GOING OUTWARD....nope (except one time I wanted to ship a bottle of Vodka Ha Noi to my sister overseas, and they were, like, "as IF!").

Now, receiving INCOMING post is where I have heard it gets dodgy. I have never had anything incoming through V.N.P.T. ever go missing or unaccounted for. On the other hand, I have never had anything shipped in to me via Royal Mail/U.S. Postal Service/Canada Post, etc. etc. and then passed onto V.N.P.T. that had a net worth of over $40USD!

Anything COMING IN worth over, maybe, $250USD, you really should go with DHL! Yeah, shipping it is gonna be VERY pricey, but they (DHL) are going to ACCOUNT for what your family or friend put into that box....whereas, with V.N.P.T., it's at the mercy of.....errrr......"eager" customs personnal.....

Worth under $250USD, though, and V.N.P.T. does a good job!! Smile Only drawback is with their "expedited" service, it's two to three weeks in to Oz and a full month or so in to North America, sooo.....
