I'm back to thinking about moving to Mexico
So: what are my chances of getting a job at an international school with a BA Hons (British) in Spanish, a CELTA and experience of teaching kids? (I'm also Catholic, should that be important)
Should it be possible, do teacher's kids get a free place? My major concern about relocating-and the reason for thinking about relocating-is that it will soon be time for my kid to start school |

I don't think you would make the cut at an international school where an education degree and teaching license are commonly required along with experience. There's a chance you could be hired but your timing is off (hiring mostly done in January and February).
You would have a much better chance at a local private school. There are almost always less benefits than an international school - most often no housing allowance, flight, relocation, etc, but many will offer discounts or free tuition to children of staff.
Schools are just ending the year now and any holes in staffing need to be filled in August. |

Thanks Guy-no harm in daydreaming...
I still have two years to get it all sorted out and take the plunge
BTW, how is the Mexican school system? Here in Turkey it's about spoon-feeding kids facts that they retain in their short-term memories for use in multiple-choice exams (one reason for wanting to move) |

I will let you now when my girl gets into school...there are too many systems running in Mexico to nail it down to one thing, though I think it's pretty common belief here among teachers that the rich kids you find at private schools are brattish. Mommy's international school gives us a discount so our girl will be in their American system. |
