I got my placement from JET just yesterday and I've been scouring the internet for info. I've been to the city's English website, the prefectural AJET site, wikipedia/wikimedia, and Google Earth (among others).
So, I have been doing some checking around. I'm posting now for the subjective experiences of anyone who has ever lived and/or worked there (hopefully my predecessor is lurking here as well...).
If nobody has lived in Toyooka, then I guess I'd like to hear impressions from trips to/through the area.
Oh, and I've been told I'll be teaching in either Hidaka or Takeno (which looks incredible). (Though, since it was initially formed from several other small towns, I guess I could be placed in one of those areas as well. Maybe?)
Anyway, what did you like best? What got ya down? Where did you like to eat?
You know, that sort of thing.
Thanks in advance for your experiences. |

In addition to hoping for an answer here, I'd suggest looking at the following site (or related ones) and posting a query on the bigdaikon.com site.
