If you've taught in the PYP at Ha'il in recent years, could you share what working and living conditions there are like, especially for women traveling solo?

I'm considering an offer, and have read both positive and negative posts.

Thanks! Wink

If you have read positive and negative posts then the final decision is yours and yours alone.

As always if it is direct hire then ok, if it is something else no, no, no never. But once again we can lead you to the water, but we cant make you drink.

Good luck at whatever you decide to do. Question

AhEm

Neigh-ver say neigh-ver...be wary of that water, it's for horses. *nickers
The working and living conditions, including direct-hires, are a *results may vary* scenario.
There are fewer (far fewer) university direct-hires if you're talking about preparatory year programs (PYP).
Given your other post, for Tabuk, I'm thinking a PYP position is the offer you're assured.

Read these threads--go back months, years, you've got time--and outline your concerns in order to be specific.
The odds of a meaningful answer increase as details bring more than a single opinion.
If urgency is a priority, you're already off on the wrong hoof. *snort

Expect an employer to put you in contact with teachers presently working.
When I accepted a position you're likely considering, one guy answered the questions of several applicants with a mass email.

But you should request a mare **whinny** Eh, I mean a woman.
It's not easy getting teachers, especially women, with skills to the KSA-- if you've got skills, demand assurances.

Thanks for the suggestions. I see that "Chaudry" caught more in his net than I did! And much of that was helpful too.

There's not much information out and about for Tabuk, though.... I have of course searched the forum for that too...

I know some people who work there, and i've worked in other Saudi Universities. They seem happy enough, but to tell you the truth, they are not the kind that expect much.

The town is small. I've seen pictures of the housing compound, not much to brag about.

But the work is easy if you can deal with the apathetic students. You can save money cause they won't be anything to spend it on.

You can go to Riyadh on the weekends.
