I'm considering an interview with LL in Hanoi, and leaving my current position elsewhere.
Any feedback on Language Link at this time on current conditions? |

Year long work visa, guaranteed 70 hours of payments, good students, check out their website for more info. One of the better mobs to work for but you'll find you might have to freelance on the side to earn decent money. |

I agree with this.
Mostly general English courses, and not a lot of test prep. There is another department for test preperation.
I'd like to add that you get medical insurance on a full-time contract, and it has paid off for those who have gotten into motorbike smash ups.
Recently, there has been a big change in recruitment after a self-implosion, and this will set the school on a more secure and stable course. |

What was the change? I agree they're superficially one of the more professional places. You can see some videos from them on Youtube. They might give you some insight into what it would be like working at the place. |

It was someone taking a double-barrel and pulling the trigger.
I am indeed, surprised.
It's a lesson to us all. |

Oh, please do tell . I had quite a few friends who were working there (they have since all left Vietnam, but I'm still in contact with them) so if you don't mind sharing a bit more details, I'd be interested to hear it. |

this gentleman sounds as if he would be rather comfortable giving such a statement to his subordinates. Perhaps he should reflect on who his audience is here, and realize that such an approach only generates more buzz and interest. People here are more likely to move on not because a poster tells them to, but because they no longer have an interest in the topic. I would say that the poster who referenced a double barrel solution should not make such a statement as a humorous metaphor without it being more clear that was his intent. If indeed he was describing the situation as it really occurred, then the underlying stories certainly are of value to us. Life can be pretty difficult here, and we need to share our insights and solutions for our collective benefit. If we only discuss the lighthearted topics, we might as well not be here. It may be time for S Cooper to move on, some of the rest of us still have a few lessons to learn here, myself included. |

Uh-huh, this thread was well on its way to dying a natural death and disappearing off the radar. Maybe it still will but s_cooper's response can only serve to generate more interest. Like I said before, I don't know what people are talking about here and, without knowing any of the background, it's all a bit too cryptic. Perhaps it's none of my business as I don't really have a stake in this either way. Having said that it's always good to hear (both the good and the bad) of what's going on in the industry and I think this is kind of the whole point of this board in the first place. Anyway it will be interesting to see where this thread goes, if anywhere, from here . |

On the website that is a forum specifically for English instructors in Viet Nam, there is a whole thread about this incident..... |
