It already is unified. Taiwan is a province, similar to Fujian but an island. Kind of like Hawaii is to the United States, but closer. It's just that the people running that particular province have some strange ideas. So Beijing is trying to rein them in a bit. It will just take time.

Hahahahahahahaha. Some people on this bored think like sheeple, as opposed to the Taiwanese who are able to think independently.

Strange thing that - independent thinking. I much prefer it to 'zero' thinking.

Zero, not even the government of the PRC thinks like you do. If they did, the drumbeat of the one-China policy wouldn't be sounding. You're living in a one-Zero fantasy land.

By the way, Hawaii wsn't settled by the losers of an armed conflict who looted the national treasury and fled the USA. Deciding not to pursue them was a decision Mao made to strengthen the country. It doesn't give Jiang Jie Si's actions any validity.

We're not allowed to shoot the messenger on these boards, but come on! Some of your posts are simply absurd instigations.

Yeah, you would think that people would eventually catch on. It is funny how so many people get riled up by it though.

The party of the PRC thinks Taiwan should be united under them, the parties (a recent thing and often still related to the old GMD families) in the RoC think the mainland should be united under them.

Either way, Chinese invaded and occupied Taiwan. It is like if the Chinese in Tibet decided to secede from the PRC and control Tibet on their own.

I am sure many of the people here would argue for the right of the new masters to be independent of the PRC (forgetting that they are still occupying another country).

I stand by this:
Quote:
So, what is Taiwan? An island controlled by Chinese whose families lost a war over the mainland.

Well Wangdaning, if nothing else the topic of "Taiwan" keeps all the "experts" on here busy and provides lots of fodder for the forum.
