Hi everyone. Can anyone please refer me to good schools that are hiring in Rostov Na Donu? I will finish my TESOL course the 8th of April in Thailand and would like to move by my brother in Rostov. But first I need to get an invitation and hopefully a job offer. Does anyone work their? How is the pay rate? How is the overall experience like? Please help. Thanks in advance! |

I'm not in Rostov on Don, but I can give you this link to get you started: http://www.rostangeles.ru/cat/shkoly_inostrannyh_jazykov
You could also enter школа иностранных языков ростов-на-дону into www.yandex.ru and start clicking through their links. I'm not sure how many jobs can be found from abroad for this area, but hopefully you'll find something. |

Im finally beginning my job in a week or two with language link in Rostov. Also they want to send me to some part of the black sea coast in August to teach a two week summer camp for immersion to English. Does anyone have any idea how that is or has anyone ever done it? can anyone give me an idea of the pay with language link? I know I'm dumb for not asking for the pay but I have no experience and I'm lucky to get a job offer anyway and dont want to risk it. Plus it was a hassle to get an invitation visa. Anyways please help. Thank you. |

I'd ask them what they're planning on paying you. You may think you're lucky to get an offer, but what happens if you arrive and the salary is $500/month? What are you planning to do then? I'd ask LL, and the sooner the better. If they avoid telling you, or get angry about it, it's not a job worth having.
Hopefully someone will be along soon who can tell you about rates in Rostov on Don, because what they offer you may be a bit (far?) less than what other teachers in the region makes. It comes down to knowing what you're worth more than skills and qualifications.
Summer camps are common here, and the ones that have tried to hire me have all offered decent pay. |

LL are unfortunately notorious for not paying well in places such as Moscow where they have a number of outlets so I would bear this in mind and try to find out what is waiting for you beforehand! The cost of living in Russia is getting expensive everywhere and a few hundred dollars will not go far, even in a city like Rostov. But as you want to go there for family reasons you may well find there is no other choice?
Summer camps can be great fun and offer a chance to experience a relaxing, seaside environment, even if you don't get much money from them.Try to make the most of it! |

While this may be true of the pay at LL, they seem to have the happiest teachers of the McSchools in Moscow (the other two being BKC and EF of course). Not sure if the situation is similar in Rostov or not. |

Hey Andre,
I'm curious about you status in Rostov and LL? How are things going? |

I will begin on the 2nd of July. Since it is slow right now, I will begin by going to Sochi for a summer camp. I am already here. The pay is 30000 rubles and a paid accommodation. The pay may be low but yet it's ok for me because it's my first time teaching ever. I do however go to the LL center every now and then to get familiar with the surrounding. I will be teaching teenagers and adults, which was exactly what I wanted. I did a one on one teaching and we only use course books, which makes it way easier. All in all I'm not complaining. The people are very nice and the school is a cozy nice place also. |

Best of luck to you andre, I hope things work out well for you. The package you've got is pretty standard for newbies in this part of the world. Keep us updated on how things are going. |

Well, it's been a long time since I've been on the forum to keep you all updated. I began 2 months ago and it has been going great. It's going so good that I started giving privates already. Soon I will hopefully open up a small language school in Rostov. Lot of potential here. I was also interested in finding out if anyone is here, from the forum. Let me know and we'll meet up and have a beer. |
