Hi - Hope a similar post isn't here, tried searching but didn't seem to work?

I had a bank account (current account?) with Kasikorn Bank when I taught in Thailand before. Unfortunately I left things to the last minute and only realised when I had run out of time that I had to go to the original branch where I opened it to close it.

Meaning I left it open, and with a very minimal amount in it. Are they likely to charge me for having under a certain amount in it? I heard from a friend that Thai banks tended to do this, but can't remember if I ever experienced it.

It's now 2 years later, and I'm planning on going back to Thailand in a couple of months. I'm worried they may have charged me a lot in the time I haven't used the account.... am I being stupid? Hopefully I am..

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks very much!

It's a bit hard not knowing the amount you had in the account but basically no, they don't charge you--or if they did, they would have taken the money until your account was zero. Your account has probably been closed or listed as inoperative. If you want the money, you'll have to go to the bank. Why are you worried over such a small amount?

Thanks for the advice - I have no idea how much was in there but would assume at least it was less than 1000 baht, probably less than 500.

I didn't say I wanted the money back, 'I'm worried they may have charged me a lot in the time I haven't used the account'. Just didn't want to owe a lot of money when I got back or something!

But ok, sounds like I was being daft and they will prob have closed it. Which is absolutely fine - knowing Thai schools I'll have to open another bank account with a different bank anyway...!
