To Middle East Beast et al,

I spent a year in Ibri, and together with 3 colleagues, had no intention of buying a car. I managed to speak to a neighbour, who was a taxi driver, and with no difficulty at all, we arranged a morning/evening run. He picked us up in the morning, then collected us at the end of the day. He was 99% reliable.

At the weekends, he drove us to Nizwa (or wherever) for some R and R at the Falaj Daris Hotel, and collected us afterwards. He was reliable, punctual and polite and obviously very keen on the regular work.

So yes, it can definitely be organised. I cannot remember exactly the cost, but it was decidedly cheaper than running a car.

Yes, it is done in Muscat. I personally know teachers who have done it and since they don't drive are very likely still doing it.

Just because it is done, doesn't make it "right". Some teachers moonlight on their contracts and labour cards....I suppose that is acceptable to you as well?

Either way, your comments come across as a grovelling weasel, who will defend injustices at all costs, as long as the tax free salary is coming in!

Anyways, your in the USA, and I am clearly done here, so....enjoy your retirement!

Yours,
UV

What ARE you talking about? Do you drink and post? Or are your problems merely personality issues?

What is unacceptable about people making an arrangement with a taxi driver to take them to work and back home everyday??
