Yeah but UGRU is also on shaky ground, given a reprieve this year but for how long?
It seems inevitable that UGRU will be culled within the next year or two and Im sorry but financially and practically it makes sense to send the foundation students to their local HCT.....but then again being the logical option it may never happen! |

The concept was highly sensible... but the Ministry/HCT/UAEU couldn't possibly have done a crappier job of trying to implement it... over night!! Mind boggling stupidity...
If I were of an age to do a few more years in the Gulf, I would only consider two places... AUS or ZU.

And, you can't do ZU if you've been banned by the HCT.

Fortunately I wasn't banned since I resigned and have been out of country for a few years. Not that I am sure that I would want to teach at ZU anyway since it is only AD or Dubai. Sharjah isn't grand either, but AUS has nice on-campus housing.

I guess this bunch are getting really desperate for warm bodies. A pal of mine who applied last year and then turned them down (after a somewhat strange interview) recently received an email virtually begging him to reconsider!
It seems that HCT and IAT/Krapland are THE ones to avoid this year!!
PS: HCT can't 'ban' anybody from working elsewhere, IS. The most they can do is refuse to issue a Letter of No Objection, but that lasts only six months at most. |

This year and beyond.

I have personal experience. They prefer to call it a "gentleman's agreement" to avoid cases in Labour Court. But, the quote was "we can no longer move forward with your case" and there was no other reason than dirge music coming from Central Services.
But, with all that "transparancy" being practiced, it was so easy to see.

Well done, Number 1. Our action has provided a future for English language acquisition. You have the bridge. I'll be in my ready room having a session with Counselor Troi...now that's what I call Professional Development.

STOP - that man is an IMPOSTER.
Captain Picard NEVER says "Make it happen."
"Make it so!"
Picard's common utterance to crew to execute an order; various episodes.

You caught me...I fumbled the command. A more popular command in the latter part of the series and in the movies was...
Engage!

No, no, dude...Scottie, as much as I like him, was in the original series/movies. My references are to Next Generation. And Scottie's contemporary would be LaForge, not Worf.
Of these facts I am confident. After all, I am the captain.
Well, I'm off to my ready room again to report our successful mission to Federation headquarters in San Francisco, and...Counselor Troi awaits.
