Hello all,

EDIT: I did do a search, however nothing came up.

I've been thinking of teaching in China for some time now. However I am nervous about finding a 'reputable' employer, so when I came across 'RecruitChinaTeachers' I was quite pleased.

I like the idea of having 'support' as it will be my first job. They say they are English people, recruiting English teachers for China, and one website says they have an office in York, though I have been unable to find out if this is true or not.

I've seen a few of their adverts and they seem to be offering good packages.

So basically I was wondering if anyone has heard of them, or has any experience with them.

Thanks,
Sam

Ps. If anyone could recommend any other reputable company then I would be appreciative.

No recruiter is going to "support" you as you seem to think. They obtain a job for you and leave you up to the whim of the employer - it IS that simple.

Most recruiters are just as, if not more, disreputable than some of the schools.

Many will lie to your face telling you they have exactly what you are looking for. Then when you arrive you find it just isn't so. Their only interest in you is to get you to fill a vacancy so they can get their money.

In the past, when an unsuspecting foreigner finds he has been dumped in a school that is not what he expected, the recruiter 'disappears'.

I think it is actually safer to deal directly with a school, where you can have contact with existing or past teachers to find out what the real situation is.

Yeah - that seems to make sense. I just hoped there might be a positive story about an agency, but it seems they all have a pretty poor reputation.

Thanks for the advice.

EDIT: They have replied to my email, they seem genunine enough, however I'm sure a lot do. After all, it's how they earn their money. If they were not pursuasive they would not be in business.
