I am coming to Tokyo in September on a three month tourist visa. If I like Tokyo as much as I expect I will, my plan is to try and find work and stay for some time, a couple years or more.

I have a BA in English Lit, and a CELTA certificate. Could anyone tell me what are my chances of finding work teaching English in Tokyo?

I always feel like Jimmy the Greek with questions like this.

Tokyo has the biggest population.
September is just before a minor starting point in October.

You meet minimum requirements for a work visa and job.

Go from there. Competition is steep now. Any time after October starts will be downhill in the way of opportunities until late January.

OK thank you for your help. Sounds basically like, yes it's possible, but by no means easy.

that's where a lot of the work is but your rent will be nearly double in the Tokyo area versus living in a more rural location or smaller city.
