Hello everyone! I've been reading and sifting through piles of great information on this site for almost a year now, and am finally making my first post. wahoo!
Background info: American, F, 22y
I am graduating with a major in Italian in May.

My question is this: If I am making this a long term career choice, should I get a CELTA? Or would it be okay to get the standard TEFL certificate and work my way up with experience. I'll be able to afford the CELTA so the cost is not a problem, but for awhile now I have really enjoyed what I have heard about TEFL worldwide in Prague and that program has really stuck with me in my mind.

Opinions are very much appreciated!
Thank you

Generic certs can be functionally just as good as a CELTA - you'll just need to be sure that, on your CV/resume, your generic cert is clearly described as including that key supervised teaching practice and 100+ hours onsite.

I happen to be familiar with the programme you mention, and it's quite solid.

My original TEFL cert was from a different generic in Prague, and I've never had a problem with it being recognised. It's even accepted by TESOL Canada.
