Try a proxy mate.
I can access everything you're talking about, not a problem.

Google for a VPN, a virtual private network.

More and more often I find logging into yahoo mail to be difficult or not possible for a day or two.

It does seem to be getting worse.

I DO use a proxy and it is sometimes good for one sign in on Gmail, sometimes not, and that is it. It is nowhere near as easy as you say.

Try typing the word 'Tibet'. I know people who are afraid to do so.

A VPN is not free. It is not as simple as Googling it.

It is odd how many internet related things get chalked up to China blocking it. This comes true especially for google. I thought they weren't here, left or something (or were going to provide users a way to get there, or not be censured ). I got a gmail email from a student on a gmail account today. Checked my yahoo. It is true though that there have been about three days I couldn't do that.

I tried buying things online and ended up fighting to prove I am from the US. The problems we are facing here might not be due to the blocking in China but the restrictions placed outside. Sure some sites are blocked outright, but many are placing people into region specific places (and blocking them based on that).

This really calls into question where the blocking is coming in. The truth is it comes from both ends. How much and who by is a question for the history books, if those are still made. Are the companies that call for internet freedom really looking for that? They seem to talk a lot and do very little if you ask me.

Ranting on my internet battles

I have mixed feelings about this. Basically I see "turf wars" or simply put, competition. Chinese produce a lot of undesirable products, but if you look around you can find what you need without relying on "outside sources". I am a big fan of Youtube and Google in general, but I have found alternatives which do not replace my desires but give me a different experience in life. If you don't like it, then you should probably leave China.

As for treatment, some will treat you well and you need to be abrasive and firm with the others. Stalking is not in their vocabulary. Teach it to them and say NO in a way they will understand and not bother you again. Eventually the bad ones leave you alone.
