Depends since Cleverlearn is a franchise, and each one has a different owner. Granted all the owners are more or less working together, they are still different.
I can't say anything about any of the others, but I worked 2 years at the Cleverlearn in Binh Tan. It was a great place to work at first, but over time they got greedy. More to the point of annoyance the Vietnamese staff, and more to the point the owner, were excessively racist to foreign teachers. If it is a conflict between you and a Vietnamese, then no matter what the Vietnamese is right, even if they were wrong. The staff there as well got involved, as did VA Schools in District 11, in a domestic problem between myself and a Vietnamese, now exgf, who at one time was an employee there and friends with all the Vietnamese staff, in harassing me because she is on some personal vendetta.
The school as well cares only about money, as most do, and I had all my classes cut from me when I advised the owner that students were complaining that they felt the school cared more about money than teaching English. Really though I think this was just the excuse to go with the above problem, but their reasoning.
Maybe Dist 3, Dist 7, or another would be better, but Cleverlearn Binh Tan is not worth it. I have a friend who still teaches there and she complains about the treatment of teachers, by the Vietnamese, every time I talk to her. |

Anyone else experience this: They post an ad say they're hiring for $15-20/hour but then say they can only offer $14-17 ????
Or of course they say they are looking for full time but are really only looking for part time.
Were they good about getting a work permit? |

I never knew anyone at Cleverlearn, Binh Tan, to make more than 18 an hour. He barely got any hours to go with it, so each week even though I was getting 15 an hour I was still making more per week and month then he was.
For work permits they, again Binh Tan, denied the need for one for the longest time, even when asked directly. This caused me to be late in starting mine. The school in Dist 3 might be better though with these things since I know they handle visas. My experience though is that all schools want you to have a work permit, but none want to be the ones to give it to you, so they can avoid paying the social benefits. |

I wrote a long response, but figured I didn't want to make a big billboard just so I get more competition for my hours (I say as I just turned down a new class, but still...) I saved it, so if any individuals would like my opinion on the matter, send me a PM.
Gist: it's a decent school to work at with no major issues save the odd busted copier or super slow computer. Dependable hours and pay, a wide mix of classes and locations. |
