Yes, I did a search function for the topic ... with the usual result.
I got an email the other day from this outfit called HJ Consultancy. If you fly over on your own dime they offer you "packages" of either 200 or 400 bucks. They promise you interviews with employers but no guarantee of a job! I wrote back and told them to take a flying leap.
Any vets of EFL wars in VN ever hear of this outfit? |

I looked at their TESOL, which lasts a whole 4 days. No thanks.
I also noticed that many of the job ads on their site look like bait. |

There's nothing they can do that you you can't do for yourself.
I'd go further and say that if someone really needs the degree of support that they (claim to) offer, they're not the kind of person that is well suited to living and working in Vietnam. |

I believe that HJ Consultancy is ran by the same person who was my TESOL instructor at ATA. Based on time they must have really cut down, but I wasn't all that impressed with ATA either.
I know I came to them once for a school, and it turned out to be a colossal failure. First they don't get you jobs, but as the other writer stated I was sent to an interview, with a school that was willing to pay the money to have teacher candidates sent to them. The school was ran by a bunch of Turkish guys who I question if they knew what they were doing, as well I was told not to worry if my students were text messaging and playing games on their mobile phones. With that I declined that school. My experience though was when they were at ATA maybe 2 years ago, and I have never asked for assistance really since this and another problem were not addressed or seemed to be taken very seriously. Really I was given the feeling that the TESOL was like teaching here. Who cares about the quality, as long as we get the money, and the whole course was focused on games to play, songs, and nothing I felt on actual teaching methodology. I learned my methodology the over next year from student suggestions, input, and comments, as well as having a Vietnamese ESL teacher help me, as the course didn't really teach these things.
The person running it though, if the same as my ATA instructor, has been more helpful in other smaller areas though, but not in others, and she is well connected in Ho Chi Minh, and near everyone knows her name and who she is.

Those Turkish schools are part of the Gulen Movement Cult. Never heard of the Gulen Movement? Check this link.
