I have a job teaching in Adra, in Almeria starting in September and was wondering if anyone had been to this very small city and could tell me a bit about it.

My first concern right now is whether I should live in the city or commute from a larger city. The nearest bigger city is El Ejido, which doesn't sound any better than Adra being that its still a small city and its not by the beach as Adra is. The next biggest city is Almeria, which could be up to 1:15-1:45 hours away by bus, but under an hour by car. I may be able to carpool with another teacher however. I will be working Monday-Friday 30 hours a week so if I commute it will be often.

My original plan was to live in Adra as it seems like a nice but small city on the beach. I've since heard from people in another forum, who may or may not have any idea what they are talking about, that Adra is horribly small and I definitely shouldn't live there. Someone also mentioned something about an immigration problem which I am not sure if it is a problem or that persons own racism Sad

As far as my preference, I would like to be in a city where there is stuff to do on weekdays, as in places to eat, shop, hang out, but I don't need lots of sights to see in my home town because I will be planning to travel most weekends anyway. I also would like to be in a town where it is easy to meet other young people, foreigners or Spaniards or both.

Any advice would be appreciated Smile Thank you!
