Hey,
I'm a newbie into the ELT business. I'm taking the CELTA in August and at the beginning of September I'd like to look for an ELT job somewhere in Spain.
I was mainly taking private schools into account and my question is: what are the standard employment conditions? Do I have to be self-employed in order to get a job? I'm an EU citizen so no visa issues here.
Thanks in advance for any help!! |

No, you certainly dont have to be self-employed. As for standard employment conditions, they are poor. Youll have a nine-month contract on a pathetic salary and may have inconvenient working hours.
However, if youre young and dont mind sharing accommodation, dont expect to save and are just looking for a new experience then youll get something out of it.

Bloomina,
It all depends on where you want to work in Spain. I have done very well for myself in Madrid, but you have to look for the academies that pay top rate. They are out there, but many of them require more than 3 years of experience, and as you already know in life, we have to start somewhere.
Stay positive, come to Spain and make it work for you.

Thx for replies guys!
From what I've researched, I should look either for 'academies' of 'agencies'. Can anybody tell me exactly what are they about?;]
As for the location, I think I'll be heading to bigger cities like Madrid, BCN or Valencia. I was thinking of Valladolid as well as I have some friends there. Has anybody worked there?
