Be advised that, from my experience at least, Immigration at the Jakarta office (in Kota, not the airport) won't stamp your passport unless you have at least two full blank pages left in it. One page for the date stamp at the office, and another page for the exit stamp. Following on my between contract break I went to Singapore for my new working visa. This took a full passport page. After passing through Immigration at Jakarta I was left with one full blank page in my passport which I assumed would be enough for my stamp at the downtown immigration office. I also had numerous 1/2 pages which I assumed would be sufficient for my exit visa. Wrong! I was required to obtain a new passport (if you're American, new pages) and return with it. Not really a big hassle in the overall scheme of things, but able to be avoided if forewarned.[/i]

I would add to this that it appears you need to have at least a full year left to go on your passport if you are going to get a work visa, so if you are working now and thinking about signing on to your school for another year, make sure your passport won't be expiring within the next 365 days.
