My husband has a Mater's Degree in English, has been teaching English in the past five years in the US (in universities and community college). However he doesn't have any official education training.

When he applies the NET, does he need to provide a document from each school to show his services in the past years? Does the document need to show the details like what classes he taught, how many hours in each semester?

Also, I noticed that a Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) is required. Should we attach this document at the time submitting the application, or provide it later?

Thanks for your advice.

I'm still in the NET process - accepted this year, but waiting to be assigned. However, having completed the earlier stages of the process, I suggest he provide all the requested information requested. An EDB - NET administrator - will review the application and approve or deny the application before he moves to the actual in-person interview, so it's best to present a "complete" application. However, the EDB will again request hardcopies during the interview and very possibly - as in my case - request resubmitting certain documents even after the interview, if the docs are misplaced.

For the Criminal Background Check, you can obtain one from your local police station. Just go and request it, which cost $25 for mine. Hope this helps.

In other words, he is unqualified.

Does 'your husband' know how to read English? The application is quite clear about these points. Try this:

2) Statement(s) / Certificate(s) of service should include the following:
(i) proper letterhead;
(ii) contact address and phone/ fax numbers;
(iii) the applicants full name (as shown in the birth certificate/ marriage certificate/ passport);
(iv) length of employment, with exact dates (i.e. from dd/mm/yy to dd/mm/yy);
(v) nature of employment (i.e. full-time or part-time);
(vi) for part-time employment, fraction of full-time experience is required (e.g. 0.3 full time equivalent);
(vii) subject(s) taught; and
(viii) age and levels/ grades of students taught.

It would be safe it one can provide the Federal Criminal Background Check; that is, fingerprints and all that stuff. CAD$75 but absolutely get you covered really well. Smile
