Anyone teach at 1 of the 14 Scholastics Play Centers (Beijing / Shanghai / Shenzhen)? I recently started working for Longman Schools in Beijing (formerly Dell English) but as with their Superkids, I don't find the Talk to Beeno or other course content very engaging despite having hi-tech content delivery (interactive whiteboards)--there's little if anything in the form of accessible narrative structure to engage children. Surprising, given that Pearson-Longman is the world's largest educ. publisher.
It seems Scholastic takes the opposite approach--relying on it's successful kid-lit but that's just the impression I get from their website: http://www.scholastic.com.cn/en/xuhui.asp

Correction: In Beijing, it's RYB Play Centers.
For some reason, in Beijing, neither Scholastic nor Longman have their own schools. Scholastic 'partnered' with this New Oriental investment and Longman Schools have 'taken over' Dai'er Yingyu (Dell English), leaving the name and typical Chinese management style as it was. I'm guessing it's due to that foreign ownership restriction policy following the mortgage crisis. |

I'm also interested in this. I have a job offer from Scholastic in Shanghai but I can't find any reviews or opinions from teachers online about the working conditions. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad. Scholastic is a highly regarded company in the US. |

I even went to head office in Beijing in hopes of talking to someone there about their schools and their arrangements with kindergartens but I must've arrived on the wrong day. |
